Year 11 Geography Iceland Trip

Iceland: the country of geothermally heated water, lava and stunning scenery. 39 Geography students recently had the week of a lifetime over in Iceland where we got the opportunity to partake in some of the most breathtakingly spectacular activities. From walking behind a huge waterfall to seeing genuine lava flow right in-front of our eyes; this trip was like nothing else. It gave us the opportunity to learn about the country, make new friends with peers and explore a very rich culture that’s unlike the UK. Over the course of 5 days and 4 nights we travelled across the vast lands and hills to different parts of the country, spending each night at a different hotel. This arrangement was coincidently perfectly timed with aurora activity allowing us to see the most vivid and exquisite northern lights that you would never be able to see with a naked eye here in the UK. We watched the sky turn bright green and dance in its naturally beautiful pattern showing off what solar activity is all about.

Without our tour guides extreme dedication and the amazing help of all the fantastic teachers on the trip we would have not been able to do all the things we had planned. All the students gave phenomenal feedback saying how it was “The best trip of my life” and “I wish we could go back”. The trip brought us all together as a group and opened doors for us into a whole new world.
