GRADUATE INTERN TEACHING ASSISTANT
35 hours per week term time only 8.15am - 4.15pm (a one-hour unpaid break is incorporated in the hours.) Salary scale H2, at £27,729 pa which pro rata is £23,056.66.
Required for a September 2025 start with the opportunity for three days paid induction in July, an enthusiastic and committed person to support and work with students within and outside of the classroom. It is essential that applicants hold a degree qualification or equivalent.
The successful candidate will support students both in the mainstream classroom and also in a 1:1 capacity. The successful candidate will also be expected to lead small group sessions within the core subject areas of Maths and English. An interest in working with students with a wide range of special educational needs including emotional, social and mental health needs is essential, together with an interest in supporting second language learners. A caring, flexible and common sense approach is important.
This post is ideal for recent graduates who may be considering embarking on a career in teaching, health or social care, as you will have the opportunity to work with young people with a range of needs and benefit from the considerable experience of our Inclusion Faculty colleagues. Excellent CPD opportunities are available in our highly regarded Inclusion Faculty and many of our Interns move on to successful teaching careers or other professional careers working with children and young people.

Student Engagement Mentor
36 hours per week, term time only, Monday to Friday, 8:15am–4:15pm. Salary scale H4 – £29,346 pa which pro rata is £25,099.63.
Required for an immediate start, subject to notice periods, we are seeking a compassionate, self-motivated and driven individual to join our Student Support Team as a Student Engagement Mentor. This is a key pastoral role, designed to increase the engagement of identified students and their families in all aspects of school life.
Initially, the focus will be on supporting students eligible for pupil premium funding and students from Black ethnic backgrounds, as these groups are currently experiencing lower academic outcomes. Over time, the target cohorts and priorities may evolve in response to emerging data.
This is a varied and rewarding position involving direct student support through one-to-one and small group work, with a focus on:
- Motivation, wellbeing, and engagement
- Improving attendance, punctuality, and behaviour
- Strengthening relationships between students and staff
- Reducing internal exclusions
- Building meaningful connections with families and external agencies
The exact focus of the role will be agreed in line with your experience and strengths and reviewed regularly through supportive line management.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about inclusive education and student welfare
- Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or similar setting
- Is skilled at building positive relationships with students, staff, and families, including those who may be harder to reach
- Demonstrates resilience, flexibility and a solution-focused mindset
- Has a strong commitment to equality, diversity and closing the attainment gap
