STEM BOSCH Workshop: Hydrogen vs Electric Cars

Posted on: 02/11/2022

Nower Hill was very pleased to host four engineers from BOSCH, who ran a STEM workshop for twenty six of our Year 10 students. Students were selected for their excellent work in Science, at the end of Year 9. Bosch engineers delivered a whole day event on ‘Hydrogen vs Electric cars’, with a series of workshops to showcase the importance of renewable energy and its real life applications and issues.

Students worked in groups of six, to assemble a model car powered by Hydrogen through electrolysis of water. Students were able to see the real life applications of their Chemistry Separate Science modules through this practical and hands on experience.

In order to develop further STEM skills, (i.e. researching, problem solving), students researched the advantages and disadvantages of Hydrogen and electric cars, and presented their judgements on upcoming legislation. We were extremely proud of how all students involved upheld the Nower Hill values, and showcased their articulacy and team work skills.

“Thank you to Nower Hill for having the BOSCH team; we were so pleased to deliver a workshop to such well behaved and respectful students. It is a tribute and positive reflection of Nower Hill”~ Mr Flemming; Lead engineer.
