Paul Hannaford Assemblies
Posted on: 31/10/2022We hope that your children told you about the highly emotive and powerful assembly delivered to their Year Group by Paul Hannaford on Wednesday. Even staff who attended were quite emotional to hear the story of how easy it could be to slip into a life of crime, drugs and gang involvement.
Paul was hugely engaging, and without fail, the audiences were silent in hearing his emotional account of how his early choices as a teenager had affected his future life. He spoke about how his dreams of becoming a footballer were shattered by being persuaded to try weed by a peer, and then how he had been drawn into the seemingly seductive world of making money through criminal gains.
It was incredibly moving when he explained how this had affected his family, and particularly his relationship with his mum. Many of our students admitted readily that this was the moment where it really hit home for them. He handed out his card with links to twitter and social media websites, and encouraged the children to continue these discussions at home, explaining the purpose of the assemblies.
We have since had some lovely emails from parents to thank us for being proactive and getting this powerful speaker into school. We would encourage all families to continue discussions with your children to ensure that this important message is not forgotten. Should anyone wish to look at Paul’s website, the link is below:
