The Globe Theatre Project

Posted on: 16/09/2020

Miss Gardener, Mr Butterworth and Ms Voden had the pleasure of watching four of our Year 12 Drama students perform Shakespearean monologues as the culmination of a project with The Globe Theatre and other schools in Harrow, including Hatch End High and Harrow School. Although the students were disappointed not to be able to actually perform on stage at The Globe as originally planned, they nonetheless gave excellent performances from their own personal stages via Zoom. Well done to them all for their outstanding performances and our thanks to Miss Gardener for supporting the girls throughout the project.

Chris Nayak, professional actor said "I've been working with Sasha, Laura-Jane, Katy and Azra over the last few weeks, and they've all been brilliant. We've had to completely change how we've rehearsed, which has meant a great deal of extra work on their part, but they've coped admirably with the changes, and on Sunday produced four outstanding Shakespeare speeches. They should be very proud of their work, and have been a joy to direct."

Charlotte Bourne (Deputy Head of Learning at The Globe) added "Firstly, I wanted to write to say huge congratulations to each of the Nower Hill students. The performances and discussions following these on Sunday were an absolute delight to watch. This is the first time that Shakespeare’s Globe has ever worked in this format for a Sharing, and we were all thrilled at the quality, individuality and insight that you each brought to your monologues. Thank you again!"
