Amsterdam Tour

Posted on: 05/06/2023

On the 30th March, The Arts Faculty, along with 90 students embarked on a trip to Amsterdam for a long weekend of Music, Arts and European Culture. On the first day, students experienced Our House Museum in central Amsterdam, a museum dedicated to the history and progression of EDM. Not only did students get to practice their DJ skills on DJ decks and experience the world’s largest sampler in action, they were also treated to a live night club experience, with lasers, smoke effects and a video on a 360 system detailing major electronic dance hits from the past 40 years.

We then travelled to Deventer to perform a concert at the local elderly people’s home, with pottery classes and marching drum workshops led by Art students and Mr Cotter.

On the second day, the students had a full day immersed in the Arts culture of Amsterdam, with a trip to the Rijksmuseum to see The Night Watch (arguably one of Rembrandt’s most famous paintings), a trip to the Stedelijk for Art students, and then a boat cruise across the beautiful canals of Amsterdam.

On the final day, students had the opportunity to blow off steam at Efteling Park, one of Europe’s largest theme parks. With all of the weird and wonderful characters at Efteling, and adrenaline pumping rides, this was a day that they will not forget!

Music and Art staff would like to take this opportunity to thank our students for displaying exemplary behaviour throughout the trip, it really was one to remember!
