National Museum of Computing
Posted on: 17/04/2023On Tuesday 7th March, as part of Teen Tech Week, 45 Computer Science students from Years 9 and 10 Computer Science went to the National Museum of Computing in Bletchley Park, for an exciting day filled with code breaking, virtual reality exploration and much more. Students were given a tour of the museum, where they went hands on with the world's oldest (working!) computers and also played some retro video games on consoles such as the Nintendo 64.
Throughout the day, students also had the chance to take part in interactive and inspiring activities, designed to encourage them to consider careers in technology such as artificial intelligence and software development. It was here where Alan Turing cracked the Enigma code and our students were given the opportunity to do their own code-breaking with a replica model of the Enigma machine. Some other activities included VR Experiences, programming using the BBC Basic, understanding Moore’s Law and learning through robotics and AI. The museum commented on all the students’ excellent contributions, and Mrs Sirajudeen and Mr Chaudhri were extremely proud of their engagement and participation throughout the trip!
