Miss Marique Daugherty
Posted on: 23/01/2023We are delighted to welcome to the Nower Hill family Marique Daugherty as our new Assistant Headteacher Student Support, with responsibility for Key Stage 3.
Marique, in addition to her new role at Nower Hill, is currently undertaking a Doctor of Education, where she has been exploring the historical progress of student-centred learning in England, along with the investigation of Pupil Premium provisions within the secondary phase. She is also a member and presenter of The International Literacy Association, an international global advocacy and professional organisation created to improve reading instruction, facilitate dialogue about research on reading, and encourage the habit of reading across the globe. The association produces journals, magazines and blogs that educate and cater to members internationally.
Marique is photographed with our reading monitors to celebrate her kind donation to the school of 55 fiction books, which were presented to her by The International Literacy Association. Marique’s philosophy sits very well with our Nower Hill culture - she believes reading is the ‘passport’ to the world and advocates using literacy instruction to narrow attainment gaps.
