Cooking Demonstration

Last week, the Year 11 Food Preparation and Nutrition pupils were treated to an amazing cooking demonstration by Junior Sous Chef Tristan Crampton.

Tristan demonstrated how to butcher a pheasant, cure salmon and make the perfect sauce, all whilst talking us through the importance of health and safety, seasonality, how to prevent food waste in the kitchen and sharing lots of helpful tips and tricks for the students’ upcoming practical exam!

The dishes he made were:

  •  Pheasant Breast with Fondant Potato, Chestnuts, Glazed Carrots and Pheasant Sauce
  •  Salmon Fillet with a Cream Sauce, Buttered Kale and Baby Watercress
  •  Cured Salmon with Beetroot, Horseradish Crème Fraiche and Pickled Cucumber

The students were thrilled to see a real live demonstration, and went away determined to practice their skills at home!
