Nower Hill High School Careers Fair
Posted on: 13/11/2019Nower Hill hosted its second Careers Fair on 7th November and it proved to be a resounding success with both students and employers. A variety of employers, colleges and universities spoke to students about their organisations, their careers and the opportunities that will be available to students in the future.
Employers from different industries were invited so that students could have a flavour of the types of careers they could pursue - Bank of America Merrill Lynch, IBM, British Airways, GlaxoSmithKline, Home Office, Transport for London, Metropolitan Police, Army, Ask Apprenticeships and Prospects. Universities that attended were Aston, Brunel, City, Royal Holloway, University of Hertfordshire and colleges attending were Access Creative College, Stanmore, Uxbridge and West London.
Students were well prepared for the event having listened to an assembly about the Careers Fair and having prepared questions to ask in form, as well as practicing how to introduce themselves. Students were also encouraged to research the different organisations on-line at home, before attending the Fair.
Our 6th form, Year 11, Year 10 and Year 8 students were each given 30 minutes throughout the day to visit the Fair and speak to our visitors, to collect careers information and to network. Our Year 8 students were buzzing with excitement and the feedback from employers was that our students asked intelligent questions and were very polite and inquisitive. All our visitors said they would like to be invited to the Careers Fair again next year. Thank you to all our visitors who supported the Careers Fair and gave Nower Hill students an opportunity to find out about different careers and further and higher education opportunities.
