Progress reports are issued to students twice a year in Years 7 and 8 and 3 times a year in Years 10-13.

Each report contains a summary of the key data that helps inform students and parents where each individual is in his/her learning.  The reports are slightly different from one year to the next to accommodate different types of assessment that take place at different stages of the curriculum, but there are common features which include:

  • Targets to be reached by the end of  year 11 as well as the percentage likelihood of achiveing other targets based on students with a similar academic profile.
  • Current attainment reported as a level in years 7 and 8 and a grade in years 9-11.
  • An indication of what current attainment is likely to look like at the end of year 11 if normal progress rates are assumed.
  • Effort scores across all subjects (scaled from 5-1).
  • Homework scores across all subjects (scales from 5-1).
  • Effort and homework scores compared to the year group average.
  • Behaviour and achievement in each lesson.
  • Behaviour and achievement compared to the year group average.

Each report contains advice and guidance on the reverse about how the data should be interpreted in the context of the year group.  The value of regularly tracking progress rather than simply reporting at the end of the year is to give the opportunity for students to:

  • know where they are in their learning.
  • reflect on whether they are currently working to the best of their ability.
  • change or improve upon this where needed.

Please find below links to explanatory notes for each year group.

If you have any further questions not answered through the guidance notes, please contact Ms Moriarty, Deputy Headteacher (Teaching and Learning, Standards and Progress), who can respond to any individual queries regarding tracking reports.
