About the NHHS Curriculum
“The curriculum enables all students to fulfil their academic potential” (Ofsted)
When students reach the end of their second year at Nower Hill High School they will have completed Key Stage 3 (Year 7 & 8). We believe that the very broad curriculum they study over the course of Year 7 & 8 gives them a good grounding in the core subjects as well as the Arts, Humanities, Languages, Design Technology, Classics and Oracy – a curriculum through which they develop a range of skills and competences and a substantial body of knowledge covering a wide subject range.
Towards the end of Year 8 the students make some choices about the direction of parts of their future learning as they embark on Key Stage 4. The students continue to develop their skills and understanding in the Core subjects, most of which lead to examined qualifications by the end of year 11. They also select up to 4 additional courses which they will study to GCSE (or equivalent) level. We are very proud of the wide range of subjects offered. In making decisions about which subjects to pursue, students are given extensive advice, guidance and support.
